Ravyn Lenae’s moment is now. Hypnos, the first album of the talented singer-songwriter, is her first project since 2018’s Crush EP.
Hypnos is left-field R&B at its finest, with 16 tracks featuring appearances from other musicians of the same level. Steve Lacy, Fousheé, Smino, and Mereba are among the upstarts.
The first featured artist appeared and worked behind the scenes on the guitar-heavy “Skin Tight,” which was accompanied by an official video. Lenae then sang another Lacy original, “Light Me Up.”
Aside from The Internet affiliate’s production genius, Lenae collaborates with Fousheé on “Mercury,” which she also co-created with Luke Titus. The soft-spoken reminiscence is appropriate for a subliminal or intentional Instagram tale intended at an old sweetheart.
“Inside Out,” a confidence-building hymn where the stock phrases are all that you make them is one of the most beautiful tracks on Hypnos.
Of Hypnos, Lenae said on Instagram, “I’ve dreamt of this moment for so long and it’s finally here🤍 I’m so proud and excited to share this music with you. I hope it grows, lives, and nurtures you in the same ways it’s done for me. I like to think of my music as a stamp in time or a peek into the little worlds I build in my head.. join me on the cosmic journey thru Hypnos.”
