It’s official! Snoop Dog is now the owner of Death Row Records. The popular record label had launched Snoop’s career back in the 90s with his debut album “Doggystyle”.
The rapper was extremely excited about the deal. “I am thrilled and appreciative of the opportunity to acquire the iconic and culturally significant Death Row Records brand, which has immense untapped future value,” said Snoop Dog in a statement.
Death Row Records was founded in 1992 by Dr. Dre, the D.O.C., Suge Knight, and Dick Griffey. It was one of the most prolific record labels that released sensational albums by Tupac Shakur, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dog. However, by the end of the 90s and after Tupac’s death, the label began to decline as one of the co-founders, Suge Knight was imprisoned. After which, Dre and Snoop also departed from the label.
