Maurice Ravel was an exceptional French composer, conductor and pianist of the 19th century. An impressionist at heart, along with Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel was considered the greatest composer of France in the 1920’s and 30’s. And of course he remains an influential figure in the Western Classical music tradition.

Ravel composed less in volume than his contemporaries but his works require a grand level of skillfulness to perform. He wrote piano, chamber music, ballet music, two piano concertos, eight song cycles and two operas. Below, find some of his most amazing works he is known for.
