Earlier this week, it was reported that Drake withdrew his nominations from the 2022 Grammy awards.
The Canadian rapper had 2 nominations, one in the category of Best Rap Album for his album “Certified Lover Boy”, and another in the category of Best Rap Performance for “Way 2 Sexy”.
The reason why Drake took this decision remains unknown. However, the Grammys respected the artist’s request and they decided to continue with the remaining nominees without any replacements.
Back in 2019, Drake had won the Best Rap Song Grammy for “God’s Plan”. In his speech, the star sent a strong message saying: “This is a business where sometimes it’s up to a bunch of people that might not understand what a mixed-race kid from Canada has to say or a fly Spanish girl from New York, or a brother from Houston, but the point is, you’ve already won if you have people who are singing your songs word for word — you don’t need this right here…”
