After releasing ‘I Hate You’ as ademo on SoundCloud, SZA officially released the track on Friday, December 3.
Back in August, alongside ‘I Hate You’, SZA also shared ‘Joni’ and ‘Nightbird’ on SoundCloud, which she classified as “random thoughts”. At first the three songs were dropped anonymously. Later the R&B singer confirmed it was her by sharing the link and tweeting about it.

It’s not the first time that one of SZA’s songs tops the US Spotify Charts. ‘I Hate U’ is SZA’s third number one, with it being her first number one debut on the US Spotify Charts.
SZA celebrated the news by sharing a video of her on Instagram asking Siri: “Hey Siri, what’s the number one song in the world right now?” to which Siri replied “currently topping the charts is ‘I Hate U’ by SZA.” The smile on SZA’s face at the end of the Instagram video says it all!
