Many musicians and celebrities paid tribute to the designer Virgil Abloh, who died on Sunday after battling a rare form of cancer for two and a half years.
Earlier this week, Kanye and Kim honored Abloh at his final Louis Vuitton runway show. West also paid tribute by dedicating his Sunday service to the late designer, who was a lifelong friend of Ye.
On her behalf, Kim also shared an emotional post where she honored Virgil. “God doesn’t make mistakes. I know that but I still can’t help but ask why. Why Virgil?! Why him so soon?” stated the reality star.
On the other hand, Frank Ocean made a statement on Instagram. He said, “He was always quotable. But the gist of his response was that he was interested in living and living to the maximum extent of his level…which proved to be impossible today because he was BEYOND.” He then stated how his family was proud of Virgil as if he was part of the family. He ended the statement by saying “I know grief is love that you don’t get to express so it is an attempt at expressing it. Love you V. You’re a hero.”
Beyoncé shared a black and white photo of Virgil on her website with a note that said “We will forever honor you, Virgil. Thank you for inspiring an entire generation.”
It is with great sadness that I send my condolences and love to the Abloh family and his friends. We will forever honor you, Virgil. Thank you for inspiring an entire generation.
